"Pages n’ Words n’ Packs—Oh My!" Pricing Your Project
The through-line of The Stuff is simplicity for the client’s purchasing process, of whom may have never ordered writing services before. No need to track labor hours. Bob categorizes his Stuff by commodifying his writing and editing labor into recognizable chunks for the client to put into their shopping cart.
Rates:
Per Word – This rate is best for the client to envision and plot the size of their final work product when buying upfront. E.g., article and blog creation.
Per Page/Doc/Email – When per-word units become too haphazard to average, they are priced simply as a comprehensive whole. E.g., doc proofreading, email editing.
Per Second – This rate allows for clients to purchase along the parameters of their future paid air time. E.g., commercial scriptwriting for display advertisements.
Per 1k Words – When dealing with long-form documents, the 1K per word rate simplifies large work/price ratios.
Per Pack – For larger quantity purchases of a single item, Bob offers discounts and payment options.
Big Ol’ Packs
Big projects will qualify as Packs, usually with at least 4 or more units. Pack units have a considerable discount rate compared to their singular versions, along with the payment plan of milestone payments.
Milestone payments allow the client to pay for a large project in portions, allowing Mr. Bohemian to satisfy their expectations in order to move forward, while still qualifying for discount rates. Think of it as an illustrator’s sketching phase for your project. If you don’t like their style, or they can’t understand your vision, you paid minimally to discover this incompatibility.
What do you have to lose, except more time from searching and quoting from other artists on their time?
