Edit Books per 1K Words
Edit Books per 1K Words
Editing units are sold per 1,000 words for fiction and nonfiction books. The minimum is 20,000 words, or 20 units; without it, the project becomes Doc & Page Editing.
You’ve almost got your final draft! Bob will comb your language for the following:
meaning/plot
format/house style
word usage
light grammar check
intention/commerciality
style
any other fundamental issues
Book covers, intro pages, and TOC organization, are not included. For a lighter revision process, such as with typo and grammar cleanup, see Book Proofreading.
Divide your project’s word count by 1,000, then use that number for your cart quantity. Bob rounds to the nearest thousand.
E.g., A 7,600 word paper/1000 = 7.6 units, rounded up to 8.
“How do I find my word count?”
Milestone Payments
Pay in gradual project portions, rather than pay for the entire project pack.
Specify your payment preference after adding units to your cart. For now, purchase the amount of units for your first item as your first milestone.

Who buys book editing?
If your book cannot survive an editor’s review, it’s not fit for publication. It’s as simple as that. Editing is not from a consumer’s perspective or a spotless last review, but a doctor’s diagnosis on the health of your piece’s integrity.
Bob will make sure your hard work is properly leading the reader and conveying its essential meaning effectively. Logical formatting and house style will be kept in check, while major grammatical issues are weeded out. This, in addition to taking the opportunity to capitalize writing style, gut cliche language, and replace it with more acute and admiral terms. For lighter editing scans, see Book Proofreading.
Examples:
A fire department was drafting a new training manual for their firefighters. Bob’s review confirmed that they had robust training content, but when following the training drills in the written order, they weren’t feasibly possible by the reader: “Stop, roll, and drop?"
A woman wanted to turn her coffee journal into a taster’s guide for beginners. Bob helped her categorize her ideas into a more coherent journey for the inexperienced coffee aficionado.
An airline needed to create a new informational booklet on how a new part installed on a pre-existing airplane model will fundamentally change navigation. Bob’s review not only swept up errors, but alerted the author to their overly technical tone.
Your Proofreader Can’t Do It All.
If you received your proofread book bloody with corrections, consider if it’s time for an edit rather than another proofreading. You veritably need it, since the gouging detracted from deeper analysis.
Don’t “Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda,” Edit.
Don’t realize your errors after they’re sent n’ live. Bob has learned the hard way, too.
